BOYS, Thomas Shotter (1803-1874)
Born in London, Boys was apprenticed at the age of 14 to the engraver George Cooke. He travelled to Paris in 1823 where he was heavily influenced by the acclaimed artist, Richard Bonington. He returned to London in 1837 and drew many popular scenes of the city, in "Original Views of London As It Is" [1842 to 1843] he recreates the real essence of Nineteenth Century London.
